Barn Yard Blues (Let’S Make More Bricks)

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Every religion has created over the years some sacred cows that should be placed on the altar and slaughtered. However, we hold on to the “limiting beliefs” of these sacred cows feeling that if we abandoned them, we’d be left with nothing. God is not a person, nor a thing: NO THING! So, maybe accepting the no-thing that would result in killing the sacred cows could lead one to the true God.

Most of the LRC community has left the security of the CHICKEN COOP!

We are EAGLES who were created to SOAR, and yet we WALK. Generations have taught us that there are great advantages to living in the chicken coop where there are regular feedings, the closeness of other chickens who believe the same thing and of course the fence that keeps the fox away. Why doesn’t anyone ask why after being fed, fed, and fattened up that no one sees those chickens again?

Where’d they go? Chicken heaven?  :-)

It’s one thing to leave the chicken coop, and it’s another to meander around in the BARN YARD!

The barn yard is a scary place. You have to find food on your own, you can walk unrestricted in any direction, but the landscape is strange and at times frightening. What if the FOX comes and deceives us or kills us? What if we get lost in the barn yard? These are all fears-questions that the Hebrews had running around in the desert for decades. Weren’t we better off back in Egypt making bricks (even without straw)?

Leaving the chicken coop, the known, the safe, the familar IS scary; however, it’s also LIFE!
Too many live seventy years without really EXPERIENCING LIFE! The chicken coop is often akin to regular employment, with frequent raises, in a small office or cubicle, with medical insurance and a retirement plan. And? Furthermore, the GOOD life is lived at the expense of never experiencing the BETTER life, nor even a glimpse of the BEST life.

Once out of the chicken coop, let’s not stop at the barn yard. Get off your feet! Most are still WALKING while our destiny is to FLY. Let’s not stop short of where we’re to go, less than who we ARE. True trust and faith are in our identity which is in the DIVINE. We’re all birthed in the coop, the hood, the manger, that meager but sustaining place. Nevertheless, there comes a time when we need to get beyond the fence of doctrine, creeds, and law that hem us in.
However, to simply walk around outside those fences and stay in the barn yard isn’t the goal, it’s just a needful step towards eventually SOARING!

Where are you?

How To Make Your Cover Letter The Rose Among The Thorns

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

The main point why you are writing a cover letter is to give the biggest answer every employer seeks in every applicant, why you are worthy of the job. You write your purpose in the letter succinctly and you will definitely get that job (of course your resume needs to look great too).

Cover letters need a touch of personality. The only way for that to happen is if you write it yourself. Do not depend on templates available in books, the internet or the one available in your computer. Letter that are basically the same are normally neglected specially if the company is in search for creative employees.

Before you even try to write the letter make sure you have researched all the necessary information about the company. Get full names, company names, head officers, goals, vision-mission and all the other important elements necessary to point out that you belong in their company.

Your cover letter must have three major paragraphs.

Starting paragraph
Let them know why you are writing to them. Remember to indicate your intended position. You need not let them know where you got information that they have an opening because it doesn’t really help you with anything instead let them know why you want to join the company. Apple polishing is great here but do not over do.

Middle paragraph
Let them know why you are great for the job. List a few achievements, experiences and skills in this part so they will see how valuable you are. This is a good way to explain to them why you are the worthy one. Share examples but don’t put in the whole dramatic story.

Ending paragraph
Let them know you attached a resume in the next page. You can request for an interview here as well.

Remember to end the letter with gratitude.

Be succinct in all the parts. Don’t bore them to death with a letter that has so much stuff to read and words that only people of ancient times could understand.

Double check your letter for grammatical errors, punctuation marks and typo errors. Make sure that the letter will look professional. Avoid saying I too many times. They just may think you are too self centered this is something you don’t want to happen. Remember to sign in your name and signature before you submit the letter for a more personal note.

For your benefit and the reader of the letter it is best to keep the letter a one pager. Most of the time long letters bore employers and so they neglect the novel you painstakingly wrote for them.

Aside from the form and the grammar what is important is how well you fit the job description. Before you even try to insist and waste the time of both parties make sure that you fit the description to a T!

A great cover letter will garner greater results. Write well and write with a heart. The employer will see your willingness and effort.

Once everything in your cover letter is finalized, check one last time for errors or word that was not typed but were suppose to be there. Look at every single nook and cranny before passing the letter. Make sure your resume is equally as enticing as your letter.

If you are accepted you need to acknowledge their letter immediately and remember to say thank you for their effort and for choosing you.

Blog Your Way To the Bank

Haven’t you heard about the Blog Marketing Explosion ? Blogs are weblogs, updated weekly or daily. It is an online diary or journal. Blogs have become more popular than websites. There is no need to know HTML, no need to arrange files like a librarian, no need to design webpages ! All you have to do is to write whatever that comes to your mind ( as you write in a diary or journal ) and blog it on free blog servers, like http://www.blogger.com/ or http://www.wordpress.com/ ! Lo ! you have created a readership.

There is one author, who quit his job due to Blogging ! The donations which he got from his blog outnumbered his salary. There is nothing wrong in asking your readers donations ! After all, a writer has to live ! Displaying Google Adsense ads or other ads can definitely generate revenue.

I started Blogging three months ago. I was excited when I first got my Google check. I have 3 websites and 10 blogs and blogs contribute 30% to my earnings !

You are writing a lot of things in your diary. Why can’t you write the same in a Blogger and get paid for it ?

Blogs are used in Marketing ! You can highlight your products and services and it will be read by the international community. You will be regarded as an expert !

25% Cyberspace has become Blogosphere, a term coined by William Quick. ( ” The intellectual cyberspace which we occupy, I call it the Blogosphere ” ) !

You can create a lot of blogs, like I did ( I created 10 ). Every post becomes a blog page and you can display ads on each page and get paid for it ! I created more than 350 blog pages with Google Ads !

These are my ten blogs, which bring home the bacon !

For writing in a diary nobody pays you offline. But online, you are paid !

Content is King. Whether it is a site or a Blog. If you can write good content, if you can search engine optimise your blog, then you can succeed ! This is Prosperity Thinking !

There are 50 million blogs out there. Yours have to be good. You can submit your blogs to the Blog directories like Technorati and Postami. You can create xml feeds and submit it to feed directories. Pottery Barn Outlet – Accenting Your Home Décor

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

Shhhh, I want to pass along a secret. There is actually authentic pottery barn outlet merchandise selling on eBay, pottery barn outlet merchandise that can accent any part of your home. No, most of the merchandise sold is not fake, but you will have to be careful. As with any discount website there will be people that want to take advantage of un-suspecting shoppers.

Below, I want to help you to accent you bathroom with pottery barn outlet merchandise.

Revive your bathroom.

A new light fixture can do wonders with any bathroom. I would recommend a contempory style light fixture that accents your faucet. Get rid of that 70â??s light fixture with the roses stenciled on the front. This is such an outdate accent and with such a little investment, some range in price from 30 dollars, you could make a world of difference in such a short amount of time.

Accent the walls with new towel holders. Pottery barn outlet has discounted towel holders that will do wonders for your wall. There is nothing worse that walking into a bathroom and seeing worn out towel holds that canâ??t even support the weight of a towel.

Last but not least, lets get a new coat of paint on those walls. This is a very inexpensive fix for any bathroom-decorating project. A bucket of paint could only cost around 20 to 30 dollars. That is nothing. But it means all the difference. New paint will cover up any scrapes or even dirt or minor holes that may have occurred over the years.

Stepping away from the bathroom, pottery barn outlet also has a large array for bedroom and living furniture that would bring out any decorating project. Accent the furniture with throw rugs and pillows that match the colors of either the walls or other furniture in the room

I wanted to touch on buying these products from eBay once again. Do your homework and check out every seller that has pottery outlet store merchandise. Check out there ratings. Do they ship the right product in a timely time period? Also has previous buyers enjoyed there purchases.

Ebay is a great place to buy and pottery barn outlet merchandise, just be sure to do your homework.

Once Upon a Time…

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

We had the likes of Leo Burnett, David Ogilvy et al. And they were the keepers of the flame of advertising.

Nowadays no aspect of advertising is as badly served as advertising itself. Where to day are the advertising voices that ring out as intelligent, passionate, current, and, more importantly, critical of current advertising practices?

Can you, for one moment, even imagine David Ogilvy not giving sarcastic comment to some of what passes for advertising these days â?? especially the use of the new technology?

Once upon a time we had an excellent heritage of critical writing on advertising. Unfortunately to day no one speaks with any authority either for or against advertising.

In our current trade press the lexicon of adjectives used by critics of advertising isâ?¦zilchâ?¦nadaâ?¦nothing!

Even worse, the banality of what passes for intelligent commentary on all aspects of marketing/advertising is simply that â?? banal!

The current crop of writers have forgotten that their first calling is to write readable, intelligent and amusing articles. Because like everything else advertising needs strong criticism, it needs that to keep advertising strong and innovative. Bad advertising, and there happens to be a lot of it around these days, drives out good advertising unless there is someone there to stop it.

The current crop of writers and what they have to say about advertising is growing in irrelevance. Sometimes I feel that, when reading the marketing/advertising press that they have no idea who they are writing for. Sadly, a myopic tunnel vision is bought to bear on the subject currently in vogue â?? in this instance Web 2.0.

However what is really worrying is the fact that, in the instance of Web 2.0, there is no debate as to the suitability of Web 2.0 as an advertising medium, there is no debate as to the claims of it being accountable. Which, by the way, it isn’t, it is too susceptible to all types of fraud and manipulation!

And there is absolutely no discussion on the huge, and growing, problem of clutter. Whether it’s emerging digital platforms or the nooks and crannies in an ever-increasing buyable physical world â?? from dry-cleaning bags, coffee cups, door hangers and even houses. The simple fact of the matter is that clutter is leading to more clutter

So if clutter is such a problem, why isn’t there a clear, unified way of thinking out a way to reduce it? And that perhaps is where a good debate and discussion within the Marketing and Media press could contribute, but no, no critics within the trade have emerged to courageously tackle this huge and growing problem!

Added to which is the headlong, unquestioning rush into all forms of new media. Like, for example cellphone advertising.

A much more critical stance would have questioned the very thought of advertising on mobile telephones.

Now the obvious has been confirmed, marketers’ new-found fondness for cellphone advertising is not an enthusiasm universally shared by consumers.

When 4,000 adults were asked about different forms of mobile phone ads the overwhelming majority of respondents found them “not acceptable at all”!

“My new gizmo has gone up in smoke but I can’t face ringing yet another call centre”â?¦that was the headline in yesterday Times of London, as if in vindication of what I am trying to say here. “Customer satisfaction plumbs the depths as a survey suggests that we are fed up with poor services” states the Times.

I can guarantee that there will be no discussion/debate/criticism of that little article in the trade press!

Here I am going to announce the fact that we are trying ourselves to (partially) address the problem of reader satisfaction/dissatisfaction. On our blogsite, listed below this article we have a short questionnaire asking for your opinions on all of the articles I have written this year. And, more importantly, how we can improve them for your interest and satisfaction. Please take the time to visit and respond to the questions, we can all benefit from your input, soâ?¦thank you in anticipation.

1. A proper and unique theme should be established throughout the calendar. While showcasing your products may be practical, selling a concept or idea about your calendars is better.

2. Remember, your target audience is your priority. It is not about what you like, but what your patrons and market will truly keep and use.

3. Print calendars with coupons for each time of the year and you’ll be sure to have a steady stream of interested clients who would take on the opportunity to save, get a discount, or whatever it is you can offer for each month on the calendar.

Make calendars that would engage your readers all throughout the year and you can enjoy a full year ahead.
