I went to Barnes & Noble yesterday and this guy showed us how it works and stuff. If you take into Barnes & Noble, it connects to the wi fi and you can get more free books. I really like it
Btw, the ‘flickering’ on the screen is e-ink technology. It isn’t like a laptop lcd monitor and it’s suppose to flicker. Thus is the reason why it doesn’t use battery unless you’re turing the page. With recent firmware upgrades, it turns a lot faster.
Also, the design isn’t that bad compared to other ereaders out there. Personally the kindle is fail. Sony’s is good but not a good selection of books. The 1million domain free books are outdated. Even the dead would be bored of.
@macman16a Are you retarded, dipshit? The Nook has a 6″ screen, just like the Kindle. The Kindle turns on and off in 2-4 seconds, whereas the Nook spends almost 2 MINUTES! The Nook is also a lot slower at turning pages than Kindle. Fucking asshole.
That flickering every time you change page is very irritating. It doesn’t look very intuitive and really doesn’t make me want to read with it.
The design is a mess. Who did they hire to design this thing…some 2 bit rate drop out from industrial design school and the software looks dated. I’m not an applefan boy but looking that this give me the max-ipad any day.
does the screen refresh like the video shows each time u turn the page? That seemed really odd – I guess I’m used to the Kindle for PC and the B&N E Reader where it just slides easily from page to page. Nice video. Enjoy.

March 22nd, 2010 at 6:34 pm
@parKb5 it does not have text to speech, at least yet. But you could put audio books on it.
March 22nd, 2010 at 6:49 pm
I see that the nook has a headphone jack. Can it read the book to you like the Kindle? If so, does the voice sound all “robotic” like the Kindle?
March 22nd, 2010 at 7:41 pm

Or
I rather just read a ‘real’ book.

the kindle isn’t as good. the nook is better at multitasking and it has a bigger screen and a touch screen.
March 22nd, 2010 at 11:50 pm
it looks like an iPod box
March 23rd, 2010 at 12:36 am
Thank you so much for this post! I spent about 5 minutes trying to open my Nook before finding this video.
March 23rd, 2010 at 1:13 am
@willard1300h Go for the Kindle. It’s a lot faster. Refreshing pages and turning on the nook gets annoying after a while…
March 23rd, 2010 at 1:22 am
@PieRules246 It’s a lot slower too, as you could see in the video….
March 23rd, 2010 at 1:42 am
Should i get this or the spring design alex e reader?
March 23rd, 2010 at 2:31 am
Nook is a lot better than kindle. Face that fact.
