After Barnes & Noble announced last Monday that it was dropping the price of its Nook e-reader from $259 to $199, Amazon.com slashed the price of its smaller Kindle to $189. This is a rapid response by Amazon.com, which cut the Kindle 2.0 price $10 lower than the new price of Nook. Original price of the Kindle 2.0 was also $259 as the Nook before this significant cut.
